It’s not hard to find fun Christmas activities for young kids in Yorkshire. There is so much to do and see it’s actually hard to pick the best. We are trying out a few this week and will keep you posted on our progress. We have found The Visit York website a really fantastic source of up to date events in the area so its worth a look if you are also searching for inspiration.

We feel very lucky this year to spend one of Oscars first Christmas with lots of family and good friends around us so we are taking the opportunity to do lots of lovely Christmasy things.

Our first taste of a Yorkshire Christmas experience was at Piglets adventure park. Located at the very picturesque Farmers Cart deli, restaurant and purveyor of very lovely local foods. I will have to revisit this part as we really didn’t have time to take all this in too.

I don’t want to give too much away about this place so I’m going to keep it simple. The sleigh ride is fantastic and although it’s not exactly pulled by reindeer it is pulled by a far more native beast!

Father Christmas and Mrs Christmas were very charming and the costumes were fantastic. The setting and various props were really well done and nicely thought out. We went in the day and is still felt special although I would love to revisit in the dark as lit up this truly must be a magical experience for older children.

There was a few nice touches for the adults too including a roaring open fire in a yurt which was very welcome on this bright but never the less very cold day!

Tickets are available and in my opinion well worth the price. Our little piglets certainly enjoyed it. Its worth noting that the venue is mostly outdoors and open to the elements so warm clothing, waterproofs, layers and boots are a must!

Bring on the next bit of Yorkshire winter fun. We would love your tips on places to visit too so please let us know in the comment box below.
