Top second-hand children's shops in Berlin

Choosing our top second-hand children’s shops in Berlin was so much fun to research. I got to shop and not feel bad about it. After all its research, right?

Ok so here is the thing, second-hand clothes for kids can gross some people out and while certainly there are places that are not scrupulous about what they sell there are others that are proud purveyors of fine, clean and gently used clothing and some superb accessories. We are here to talk about the second-hand children’s stores in Berlin that take pride in their stock and there are many.

For me, there are three major advantages to shopping secondhand.

  1. I save money for my travels. Good quality new clothes and toys are expensive and I prefer quality over quantity.
  2. I am doing my small part for the environment in shopping second hand by reducing the amount of waste I create.
  3. You can often find things out of season when the stores don’t have them, very useful for travelers. Snow-suits and swim suits for example.

So let’s get to it, here is a little map you can download and save to your phone. Oh and let’s not forget, I would love you to comment and add your favorites stores too if you would. That way I can also work on an update and shop some more 🙂

I live very close to this store and tend to check it out first when I’m researching for something. Yesterday it was rain pants. They stock a mix of new and 2nd hand children’s clothing, games, books, toys, outdoor apparel, and shoes. I find the staff here to be friendly and they often speak English too which is often useful if you have a specific request. The clothing ranges from baby to 5-year-olds and the toys are always really super. Added bonus there is a play area so you can actually take your time to browse.

There was scaffolding on the outside of the shop front so I couldn’t get a snap of the pretty facade. I love this shop, it has a great mix of vintage as well as second-hand clothing. They sometimes have a few new things in limited numbers like sheepskin booties which are very well priced. There are not so many toys or shoes in this store mainly clothing which I feel is well curated. Added bonus is it’s right next to Lausitzer park playground and a cute ice cream parlor.

Sadly no website for this one and no real name. I have a pin on my google map above though and its WELL worth a visit. We bought Oscars 2nd hand Puky balance bike for his 3rd birthday here and it was an absolute bargain 30€. We have also bought bike seats and too many toys to mention. Lots of bike seats, car seats, great prams and of course bicycles. This is my top spot. Lots of clothing too of course and a great selection of winter stuff. The only downside is that it’s closed at the weekends. The owners have children so I get it but it is a real shame. Added bonus Griefstrasse is so pretty and has lots of lovely stores and ice cream and coffee shops. Good for a stroll.

A recent find and a very fine one. A mix of grown up and kids second-hand clothing, some toys but not much equipment. I found the selection here excellent, especially in the shoe department. Great eye for super cute vintage pieces too. Prices are very good too. There are some fancy clothes in here due to the neighborhood so worth the trip. Added bonus is it’s on a street with a climbing park for slightly older children and a ton of yummy restaurants. I will be back.

I stumbled upon this place on a recent visit to Prenzleurberg and I thought it was great. Rails are not too jammed and there were some cute clothes. No toys or equipment but good swimming selection when we were there. Picked up a lovely stripped fisherman hat for Oscar while we were there. The downside I thought the prices were a little high but it is Pberg so I guess to be expected. Bonus points for being close to Keizkind one of the coolest little play cafes in Berlin.

This place is not much to look at from the outside but don’t be put off. There are two really great things about this place. Firstly they have a buggy rental and fixing service. I saw three people come and use the service in the space of 30 minutes so it must be good! The store is also packed to the rafters with everything you can want or need from bassinets to breast – pump. The only downside is that it is really small and I wouldn’t recommend going with a child who can’t sit still for 20 minutes. Choose a kid free day. Prices are awesome and there is some super stuff in here. I wish I had been kid free. Still, we did not leave empty handed.

This one is a little far from us but the store is HUGE, the toys were particularly fantastic and it also has small furniture which is unlike all the others. Toddler beds and baths etc. The clothing was quite worn and you need time to rummage but there is so so much here I’m sure you can find some fab things.

Siebenstern

If you got to the end then you hit the jackpot. This is THE spot. It came recommended by a number of mums (Thanks, Berlin Expat Babies!) and they were right. If you like wooden toys this will be heaven for you. As you can see Oscar particularly enjoyed this place for the books. They also sell great clothing and shoes. There was a solid selection of bikes here too in lots of sizes and good condition. Added bonus is the reading area and the fantastic kid’s cafe with garden next door. I recommend coming here with a car mainly so you can load it up with goodies. The only downside was that we left our beloved bunny here. Siebenstern if you are reading this did you find him?
